European Commission Workshop on Regional Cooperation in Disaster Risk Management (by invitation)

The Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (DG ECHO) will collaborate with the IPA countries, including the Western Balkans and Türkiye, the Regional Initiative for Disaster Risk Reduction (DPPI), and various IPA regional projects to host a workshop focused on the requirements outlined in Article 6 of Decision No. 1313/2013/EU.

This workshop will address key topics such as regional cross-border cooperation, prevention and preparedness measures, and the enhancement of risk management capabilities. Participants will engage in discussions linking these topics to ongoing regional programs within the IPA region, including IPA FF, IPA CARE, and the Multi-Country Study, all of which emphasize risk assessments and preparedness initiatives.

Key questions will guide the workshop, including: What challenges do countries face in fulfilling the requirements of Article 6? How do regional programs support these countries and contribute to disaster risk management governance?
