Award Ceremony, Networking & Cocktail Reception

Participants are warmly invited to a cocktail reception, where they will have the opportunity to witness the award ceremony for the BeSafeNet Olympiad, and the Youth Challenge on Risk Communication. In addition to celebrating the talent and innovative solutions of the awardees, this event will facilitate meaningful networking opportunities, fostering collaboration and dialogue among all attendees.

BeSafeNet 2024 Olympiad

The European and Mediterranean Major Hazards Agreement (EUR-OPA) of the Council of Europe supports educational projects aimed at promoting a culture of prevention and adequate behavior in disaster risk reduction. The BeSafeNet Olympiad was first launched in 2019. The competition is open to all the secondary schools in the EUR-OPA member States. The Olympiad consists of 50 questions on 5 different natural and technological hazards (10 questions for each). The top three teams are awarded various gifts and a donation is made to each of the schools.

2024 Youth Challenge on Risk Communication

The Youth Risk Communications Challenge is a regional initiative for adolescents and youth in Europe and Central Asia, co-organized by UNDRR, UNICEF, and WHO Europe. It aims to empower youth to develop innovative, practical, and inclusive solutions for disaster risk communication. Participants were invited to submit proposals that enhance understanding of risks among vulnerable communities and promote behavior change for risk reduction.
